John said to Him, (Jesus) “Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him, because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in My name will be able soon after to speak evil of Me.” Mark 9:38, 39

Lord what an interesting answer to Your disciples. Certainly it is true. Who can say they are doing something in Your name and then renounce You.

Lord You always had the perfect answer. We have much to learn from You. Thanks for giving us open ears to hear and open eye to see. We are so, so blessed. Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) took a child, and put him in the midst of them; and taking him to His arms, He said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me; receives not Me but Him who sent me.” Mark 9:36, 37

Lord we have seen the artists pictures of You holding the child and showing Your love. It brings a smile to our faces as we look at the way You smile. And yet Lord no artist can portray the love in Your heart for that little boy. Your life is such a great example for all of us Lord and we thank You for it.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) sat down and called the twelve and He said to them, “If any one would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” Mark 9:35

Lord Your disciples were just talking amongst themselves while walking about who was first with You. You asked them what they were talking about but they did not answer You. Now You were showing them that You knew their thoughts and desires by revealing this truth to them.

Truly Lord that this is Your gospel. The first shall be last and the last shall be first. In reality Lord this has been hard for me to accept because I have been one of those that have walked with You my whole life. BUT the great new is I have had You by my side every moment of every day for which I am so grateful. Even if I am last Lord it makes no difference because there was never a moment You were not beside me ever since I was eight years old. Oh how blessed I have been because of You Lord.

I have so much to thank You for and do thank and praise You.

Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And they came to Capernaum; and when He (Jesus) was in the house He asked them, (His disciples) “What were you discussing on the way?” But they were silent; for on the way they had discussed with one another who was the greatest. Mark 9:33, 34.

Lord, You knew what they were saying when You asked them. Of course they didn’t want to tell You that they were talking about who was the greatest among them.

Thank You Lord that You know us totally inside and out. Thank You for helping us become more and more like You. Thank You for giving us peace and joy. Oh how we love You and thank You.

Thank You Lord.

They (Jesus and His disciples) went on from there and passed through Galilee. And He would not have anyone know it; for He was teaching His disciples, saying to them, “The Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He is killed, after three days He will rise.” But they did not understand the saying and they were afraid to ask Him. Mark 9:30 – 32

Lord it is very easy for me to understand why Your disciples would be afraid to ask You. You had certainly said more than they wanted to hear. They were not ready to hear that You would die.

Thank You Lord that I know the rest of the story. Thank You too that there is more to come because some day You are going to come back. What a great day of rejoicing that is going to be. Thank You for the hope You give us as we live and serve You each and every day. Thank You!

Thank You Lord.

And when He (Jesus) entered the house His disciples asked him privately, “Why could we not cast it (dumb spirit) out?” And He said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.” Mark 9:29, 30

Lord this must have been quite disappointing for Your disciples. They had tried to cure this child and could not do it. You came on the scene and he was delivered. Now You are saying it takes prayer.

Truly Lord our lives are in Your hands. We pray and we trust and know the results are up to You. The good news is that You care more about us than we even care about ourselves. You love us and want the very best for our live.

Thank You….. Thank You Lord.

And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You dumb and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again.” And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse; so that most of them said, “He is dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up and he arose. Mark 9:25 – 27

Lord what must it have been like for the crowd to have been there and experienced this event.

Certainly Lord, nothing is too hard for You. You proved that over and over.

Thank You Lord that nothing is too hard for You today either.

And we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus talking with the father of the son with the dumb spirit.) And Jesus said to him, (father) “If you can! All things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out! And said. I Believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:23, 24

Oh Lord how often we have said this as we have trusted You in our lives.

How we thank You for Your patience with us and Your comforting spirit.

You know us Lord better than we know ourselves and we thank You for Your answers to our prayers.

You are ALWAYS there loving us unconditionally.

Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And they brought the boy to Him; (Jesus) and when the spirit saw Him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. And Jesus asked his father, “How long has he had this?” And he said “From childhood. And it has often cast him into the fire and into the water, to destroy him; but if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us.” Mark 9:20 – 22

What a sad story Lord. How awful for these parents.

This father knew You could heal him. Your disciples had tried and nothing worked. Now his only hope was in You.

Lord You are our only hope too. Thank You for Your life changing power even today. You love us Lord and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And one of the crowd answered Him, (Jesus) “Teacher, I brought my son to You, for he has a dumb spirit; and wherever it seizes him, it dashes him down; and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid; and I asked Your disciples to cast it out, and they were not able.” And He answered them, O faithless generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to me.” Mark 9:17 – 19

Lord we can pray and make our requests known but it is up to You how those prayers are answered.

Thank You for ALWAYS being there. Thank you for ALWAYS listening. Thank You for teaching us faith and trust through the things that happen in our lives.

Thank You Lord. Thank You…..
