And the scribe said to Him, (Jesus) “You are right, Teacher; You have truly said that He is one, and there is no other but He; and to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” Mark 12:32, 33
Lord how wonderful that this scribe agreed with what You had said. This is a first. All the others were trying to discredit everything You said.
Thank You Lord for those that are of kindred spirit.
Thank You for those that come together and are of one accord when they worship and pray.
It is awesome to be in such a group and experience Your presence. What a gift! What a joy.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “The second (commandment) is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31
Lord You told this scribe the first commandment was to love the Lord. Now You are telling him to love his neighbor.
Lord we don’t have any trouble when it comes to loving You and wanting You in our lives but there are some of our neighbors that can be very hard to love. BUT You are not saying to love what they are doing or even to like what they are doing. You tell us to love them.
Thank You Lord for giving us the wisdom and power to love the unlovable.
Thank You for helping us see each person as You see them.
Thank You for teaching us how we can love them.
It is only in Your strength and Your love that we can love and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’” Mark 12:29, 30
Thank You Lord for putting within each one of us the desire to love You.
Thank You for giving us the desire to draw close to You.
Lord we do love You and thank You that You love us with an unconditional love that knows no limits.
We are so, so blessed and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that He (Jesus) answered them well, asked Him, “Which commandment is the first of all?” Mark 12:28
Lord You answered these scribes and Pharisees in a way that caused them to argue among themselves while trying to find a way they could make what You were saying wrong.
Now here is another coming to You and trying the same tactics in a different way.
Thank You Lord for helping us understand others.
Thank You for seeing our motives and desires.
You are with us always and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living; you are quite wrong.” Mark 12:26, 27
Thank You Lord for being the God of the living even today.
Oh how grateful we are that You love us unconditionally.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued) “For when they (anyone) rise from the dead, they will neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.” Mark 12:25
Thank You Lord that Your plan is perfect. To us it is often a mystery but and we have so many questions. Often it takes a lot of faith and a lot of trusting on our part. Thank You for always being there to show us the way. We are never alone and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Jesus said to them, (Sadducees) “Is not this why you are wrong, that you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God?” Mark 12:24
Thank You Lord that we have the scripture today.
Thank You that we can read and learn about You.
Thank You for the Holy Spirit that teaches us as we read.
How great it is Lord that You not only show us Your power but You give us Your power too.
We love You Lord. Oh how we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

(The Sadducees continued talking with Jesus.) “There were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and when he died left no children; and the second took her and died, leaving no child; and the third likewise; and the seven left no children. Last of all the woman also died. In the resurrection whose wife will she be? For the seven had her as wife. “ Mark 12:20 – 24
Lord reading the rules that the people were following when You were on earth makes me very thankful that You came to fulfill the law. No longer are we bound by these.
We are reading about this rule because the Sadducees were trying their best to get a statement out of You that would contradict their teaching. If that happened they could arrest You.
Lord what a joy it is to live today in the freedom of Your love. No more rules like this to enslave us We are free to love and serve You. Oh how we thank You.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And Sadducees came to Him (Jesus) who say that there is no resurrection; and they asked Him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife, but leaves no child, the man must take the wife, and raise up children for his brother.” Mark 12:18, 19
Lord we often laughed when thinking about this verse because my sister was 12 years younger than me.
There were certainly a lot of rules and regulation for the people to abide by.
Thank You Lord for coming to earth to redeem us. Thank You that we are not bound by all these rules and regulations. Thank You for the freedom we have in loving and serving You with a heart full of gratitude. Oh how we love You and love to serve You Lord. Thank You for changing our lives moment by moment.
You are our rock and we love You.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

But knowing their hypocrisy, He said to them, “Why put me to the test? Bring me a coin, and let me look at it.” And they brought one. And He said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were amazed at Him. Mark 12:15 – 17
Lord there have been many people that have tried to pick at Your life and find fault only to find out in the end that You were not an imposter You were truly who You said You were.
Thank You Lord for revealing Yourself to us because we KNOW who You are and why You came.
Thank You for coming to bring us life and a life that is more than we could ever dream it could be.
Thank You for Your unconditional love. Oh how we need it and Oh how we thank You for it.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.
