But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Him release for them Barabbas instead. Mark 15:11

Lord I wonder what it would have been like to have been there that day. Would I too have shouted with the crowd to crucify You. We see that so often today when riots begin and people get caught up in them.

How sad this was because I would guess these were some of the same people that had listened to You. Yet the chief priests were able to persuade them to release Barabbas.

Thank You Lord for loving us enough to go through all of this for our salvation.

Thank You for calling us to come follow You.

Oh how we thank and praise You that today You wait with open arms of love …..yes UNCONDITIONAL love for all that will come to You.

Thank You Lord.

For he (Pilate) perceived that it was out of envy that the chief priests had delivered Him up. Mark 15:10

Lord, there are just some things we know intuitively and Pilate saw right through the motives of the chief priests. Jesus was getting too much power and attention. He was also exposing them for who they truly were. They had to stop Him and wanted Him dead.

Pilot was caught in the middle of it all. His hand was forced. Too bad really because he didn’t want any part of it.

Lord that is really a very hard position to be in.

Our only retort as believers is to cry out to You for wisdom and understanding. You are there Lord and so often give us wisdom and insights beyond anything we could ever think of and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to do as he wont to do for them. And He answered them, “Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews? Mark 15:8, 9

Lord, Pilate had no choice but to go through with what others wanted him to do. Sometime Lord we too are in that position.

It is not easy to feel the pressures of life and know how to deal with them.

Oh how I thank You Lord for being with us to calm and help us any time day or night.

Thank You for always being there to help and to guide.

Thank You Lord.

Now at the feast he used to release for them one prisoner whom they asked. And among the rebels in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrections, there was a man called Barabbas. Mark 15:6, 7

Lord we know this story oh so well. We know all of this is leading up to Your death and resurrection. You came for us and You died that we might live.

Oh how we thank You. Oh how we praise You. Oh how we love You. Thank You!

Thank You Lord. Thank You…..

And Pilate again asked Him, “Have You no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against You.” But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate wondered. Mark 15:4, 5

Lord, what could You say. You were silent. There is certainly something to learn from You. These men had their minds made up so You may as well have been silent.

It’s not very easy Lord to be quiet when someone is tearing You down and finding fault with You. BUT You did it.

Thank You Lord for showing us the way to peace and contentment.

Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And the chief priest accused Him of many things. Mark 15:3

Lord, You certainly know how it feels to be falsely accused. What had You done to make anyone accuse You of anything. You had only done good to people. You healed the sick. You blessed their children. Taught everyone how to draw closer to God. You did good.

Lord so often we see these same thing happen when people drag others down by their comments. You know how they feel. You have been there. And who of us haven’t said something that we wish we would have swallowed instead of speaking it.

Your unconditional love is there for us. You understand. You heal our broken hearts. You bring comfort and joy in spite of situations. We are so, so blessed and we thank You Lord.

Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And He answered him, “You have said so.” Mark 15:2

Lord, You were sought after and now they had You right where they wanted You. They could ask the questions they knew would trap You. There was no justice. There was no favoritism. There was no way they would ever allow You to get away.

Lord thank You for knowing all about us.

Thank You for caring.

Thank You for teaching us that there is nothing too hard for You.

You are here with us and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And as soon as it was morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council held a consultation; and they bound Jesus and led Him away and delivered Him to Pilate. Mark 15:1

Thank You Lord for loving us and dying for us.

Thank You for Your unconditional love that reaches out to us with a heart of love and compassion.

Our hearts rejoice Lord because You are our Lord and savior and we thank You.

Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And immediately the cock crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, “Before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times. And he broke down and wept. Mark 14:72

Lord it hurts when we do something we wish we didn’t do. Peter loved You and now he had denied You. He wept.

Thank You Lord for helping us through the difficult place we find ourselves in because of our own choices.

You are there and You care. Thank You!

Thank You Lord

And the maid saw him and began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.” But again he denied it. And after a little while again the bystanders said to Peter, “Certainly you are one of them; for you are a Galilean.” But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak.” Mark 14:69 – 71

Lord, Peter was a man that loved You and yet here he was denying You. He feared for his life. These were nasty people that were out to kill both You and Your followers and Peter knew he was in dangerous territory.

Lord it isn’t easy to stand up for You when the other alternative is death. This is why we need to stay close to You every moment.

Thank You Lord for giving us Your strength and Your power . Oh how we need it each day, It is always there for us Lord and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.
