Thought For Today

A rich man’s wealth is his strong city; the poverty of the poor is their ruin. Proverbs 10:15

Lord what are we to learn from this verse.

Truly it is much easier to have all our need and wants met when we are rich.

It is very difficult to live in poverty wondering where our next meal will come from.

Lord rich or poor we need to keep our eyes upon You and believe that You will take care of us. You are always there – rich or poor – to hear us when we cry out to You and come to You with a grateful heart. Even in our poverty Lord we find things to thank You for. And we do thank You for all things. You are always with us and we thank You.

Wise men lay up knowledge but the babbling of a fool brings ruin near. Proverbs 10:14

There are some of us Lord that love to learn and love knowledge. I seem to have been born into such a family. I love to sit at your feet each day and have You teach me.

Thank You for the gift of knowledge Lord. AND it truly is a gift.

On the lips of him who has understanding, wisdom is found but a rod is for the back of him who lacks sense. Proverbs 10:13

Thank You Lord for helping us understand and share our understanding with others. I love it Lord when someone helps me understand something that makes no sense to me without their explanation.

Thank You for giving each of us knowledge about different things. When we all share we are using our God given talents to bring wisdom to another person.

Thank You for Your gifts Lord.

Hatred stirs up strife but love covers all offenses. Proverbs 10:12

Lord today is the day before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a day set aside to spend remembering all You have given us. It is a day to enjoy with a thankful heart.

How fitting Lord is this verse that reminds us all that ‘love covers all offenses.’ Thank You for the gift of love.

Thank You Lord for those that have a loving spirit and bring calmness just by being in their presence.

Thank You for coming to earth for us that we might truly enjoy life to its fullest. We are so, so blessed by the gift of Your love Lord and we thank You.

Thank You Lord for the wisdom You give us.

Thank You for the righteous that bring love to a challenged world.

We thank You Lord for comfort and peace. You are our rock and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

He who winks the eye causes trouble but he who boldly reproves makes peace. Proverbs 10:10

Lord this is a very interesting verse to ponder. I can only sit at Your feet and listen to what You are saying to me and learn.

What You are saying to me is by winking my eye at something that is wrong and letting it go is the wrong thing to do and will cause ‘trouble.’ BUT when we are willing to step up to the plate and say what is wrong there is peace.

That sure isn’t easy Lord. It would take Your nudging and Your insight to do that in most situations. The gift in following Your direction is peace.

Thank You for peace Lord. Peace is Your gift to us as we trust You and we thank You for it.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

Blessings are on the head of the righteous but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. The memory of the righteous is a blessing but the name of the wicked will rot. Proverbs 10:6, 7

Lord how sad that we have those that are wicked and destroy.

How wonderful it will be when You come back to the earth for us. All this wickedness will end.

Thank You for coming to change the hearts of the wicked. In an instant Your power can melt their hearts of stone. They are transformed by the light of Your love and we thank You.

Thank You Lord for the desire and ability to work.

Thank You for giving each of us the abilities we have to be productive and useful.

We have so much to thank You for in this area Lord that we could go on forever and ever thanking You.

Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit but righteousness delivers from death. The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry but he thwarts the craving of the wicked. Proverbs 10:2, 3

Lord we often see that the wicked do prosper here on this earth but we know it won’t last for all eternity.

Thank You Lord that we that love and serve You will be given the gift of spending all eternity with You.

Thank You for helping us live the life You have designed for us.

A wise son makes a glad father but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother. Proverbs 10:1

Lord what a gift it is to be a mother or a father.

Children are certainly our gift and we do praise and thank You for each child.

BUT…. it sure does make a parent happy when the child is wise and makes good choices.

Solomon wants his son to be wise and that is what this book of Proverbs is all about so far. Over and over Solomon reminds his son to be wise. A wise child makes his father glad and brings joy to his mother.

Thank You Lord for giving me a wise, intelligent, loving son. I am bless beyond all measure.
