A scoffer seeks wisdom in vain but knowledge is easy for a man of understanding. Proverbs 14:6

Thank You Lord for listening ears. I think that is what Solomon is talking about here. People that listen and evaluate understand.

Thank You Lord for those You place in our lives that teach us.

Thank You for the book of Proverbs because as we go through it verse by verse we become people of ‘understanding.’

Thank You Lord.

Amen

A faithful witness does not lie but a false witness breathes out lies. Proverbs 14:5

Lord we have heard this from Solomon before and commented on the importance of being truthful. When you are truthful you never have to remember what you said before.

Thank You Lord for giving us the desire to please You. Being honest and truthful certainly is what You desire for all of us.

Thank You for instilling that within us and then helping us carry it out.

We need You Lord and want You to help us and You do. Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Solomon continues….. ‘Where there are no oxen, there is no grain; but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.’ Proverbs 14:4

Lord living in our day and age the meaning of this verse doesn’t have the effect on us that it did in Solomon’s day. Oxen were of great value for working in the fields and many other places. I’ve read signs at the old mills where it talked about the oxen pulling the wheels. They had great value because of their strength.

This field Solomon was referring to as being empty was because there were no oxen to plow.

You made the ox Lord. You gave them their strength. You gave those using them the wisdom to know how to work them to the best of their ability.

There is so much to thank You for Lord and we do often stand in awe and say THANK YOU.

Thank You Lord.

Amen.

The talk of a fool is a rod for his back but the lips of the wise will preserve them. Proverbs 14:3

Thank You Lord for the wisdom You give us.

Thank You for preserving us by giving us insights . Insights we would not have seen or realized until we prayed.

We are Your children Lord and we thank You for Your unconditional love and compassion.

Every day is a journey Lord with You by our side.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

He who walks in uprightness fears the Lord but he who is devious in his ways despises Him. Proverbs 14:2

Thank You Lord for the love You put in our hearts for You.

Thank You for giving us the desire to live our lives to please You.

Thank You for the peace You give us when we trust You.

Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Wisdom builds her house but folly with her own hands tears it down. Proverbs 14:1

Lord how true it is. Why would we ever want to build our house in our own strength and wisdom when we have You to help us.

Thank You for Your wisdom and knowledge and the opportunity You give us to call on You any time day and night.

Thank You for ALWAYS being there when we ask or call out to You.

We love You Lord and are grateful for Your unconditional love and peace.

Oh how we thank and praise You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

The righteous has enough to satisfy his appetite but the belly of the wicked suffers want. Proverbs 13:25

Lord I don’t think Solomon is talking about food here. I think he is talking about our love for You and the fact that You satisfy our spiritual appetites.

We have so much more than food when we love and trust in You. The rewards are great and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

He who spares the rod hates his son but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him. Proverbs 13:24

Lord it takes a lot of prayer to be a good parent. We need Your input in order to be more than we ever thought we could be. Thank You for always being there with an answer.

Thank You for the love You put within us for our children.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

The fallow ground of the poor yields much food but it is swept away through injustice. Proverbs 13:23

Lord there are so many things in life that are not fair. This verse reminds us of that fact. When the right things are not done it sure is hard to accept. AND not only hard to accept but very hard to understand.

Thank You Lord that we don’t have to understand everything in life. Thank You for giving us the wisdom and knowledge we need to make it through life moment by moment. We look to You Lord. Our faith is in Your knowledge and wisdom. Thank You for always being there for us.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous. Proverbs 13:22

Lord it is a wonderful thing to have money to give to our grandchildren. In the day when Solomon was writing this message to his sons the inheritance was a given for the children. This verse makes me wonder if a ‘good man’ had so much money that he was able to also give to his grandchildren. What a tremendous gift that would have been in those days.

Certainly today Lord it is wonderful to have money to give to those that need it or could enjoy it and spend it wisely.

Thank You for giving us the ability to work hard to provide for our families. It is truly a wonder gift and blessing.

Thank You Lord.

Amen
