Thought For Today

Lie not in wait as a wicked man against the dwelling of the righteous; do not violence to his home; for a righteous man falls seven times and rises again; but the wicked are overthrown by calamity. Proverbs 24:15, 16

Lord it is you that gives us the power and strength to rise again when we fall.

Thank You for ALWAYS being there to help us. You keep Your word to ‘never leave or forsake us’ as evidenced by our lives over and over again. Oh how we praise and thank You.

My son, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honey-comb are sweet to your taste. Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future and your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 24:13, 14

Lord ….Solomon has a lot to say to his son in these two verses.

I love learning and the wisdom that comes from those ah-ha moments.

I am grateful Lord that we are never too old to learn. Thank You for the gift of knowledge. Thank You for the joy it gives us.

Thank You for the hope You give us when we trust in You.

Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who keeps watch over your soul know it and will He not require man according to his work? Proverbs 24:11, 12

Following You Lord is the way to go. I see something wonderful in these verses …. ‘Does not He who keeps watch over your soul’….

What a wonderful thought this morning Lord to be reminded that You are keeping watch over us. Thank You!!!!

If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. Proverbs 24:10

Lord …I think what Solomon wanted to teach his son and wants to teach us also is that going through adversity with You can help us to become stronger. We know that You have promised to be with us and we thank You.

He who plans to do evil will be called a mischief-maker. The devising of folly is sin, and the scoffer is an abomination to men. Proverbs 24:8, 9

Lord ….. blessed are the peacemakers and those that love and follow You. It is wonderful to see the changes You make in our lives when we look to You for help. Are we perfect? No….but we are striving to be perfect and that is why we appreciate Your unconditional love so much. You pick us up and set us on Your pathway once again and tell us how much You love us.

Oh how we thank and praise You for the changes You make within us.

Wisdom is too high for a fool; in the gate he does not open his mouth. Proverbs 24:7

Lord ….Solomon being the wisest man that had ever lived knew what to warn his son about. Now he is telling him that even though the men were gathered around the gate to their city it was the wise men that he should listen to.

Lord that is who I want to listen to today too. There are some awesome people that help me learn more about You Lord. Thank You for their wisdom and knowledge. Thank You for what I am learning. Thank You that I am still teachable.

A wise man is mightier than a strong man, and a man of knowledge than he who has strength; for by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory. Proverbs 24:5, 6

Lord it was Solomon’s wisdom that made him want to share all he had learned with his son. He wanted his son to have an abundance of counselors. He wanted him to listen to the right people.

Thank You Lord for helping us learn from those that are wise.

Thank You Lord for all the gifts You have given us.

Thank You for the wisdom to help us do what we need to do to survive each day.

Thank You for always being there for us. You are only a prayer away. That is so awesome! Oh how I thank You.

Lord ….Solomon continues to warn his son of the pitfalls in life. Lord this is our warning too. May we also take heed and obey.

Thank You for Your warnings that bring us closer to You. Oh how we need them and thank You for them.

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who tarry long over wine, those who go to try mixed wine. Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder. Your eyes will see strange things, and your mind utter perverse things. You will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, like one who lies on the top of a mast? “They struck me,” you will say, “but I was not hurt; they beat me but I did not feel it. When shall I wake? I will seek another drink.” Proverbs 23:29 – 35

Lord what a warning Solomon has given to his son. That same warning is still valid for us today.

Thank You for coming to give us a better way when we follow Your leading. We are blessed.
