My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. For a harlot is a deep pit; an adventuress is a narrow well. She lies in wait like a robber and increases the faithless among men. Proverbs 23:26-28

Lord yesterday was the day we observe Father’s Day. How wonderful it is when we are blessed with Father’s that love and obey Your direction for their lives. My father is in heaven today and I am grateful that he like Solomon loved and followed You.

Thank You Lord that You are our Heavenly Father.

Thank You for loving us unconditionally.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who begets a wise son will be glad in him. Let your father and mother be glad, let her who bore you rejoice. Proverbs 23: 24, 25

Lord it appears to me that Solomon wanted his son to know how happy it would make both him and his mother if he was a great son that loved You when he grew up.

AND today what parent doesn’t feel that same way. What a delight to see our children love and obey You and to also follow their God given talents. They bless us and bring great joy. How we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Buy truth and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. Proverbs 23

Lord what I think Solomon was saying to his son was to gather all the truth, wisdom, instruction and understanding he could.

Thank You Lord for the insights we receive as gifts from You. They often seem to come when we least expect them.

Thank You for each person that helps us along life’s pathway.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Hearken to your father who begot you and do not despise your mother when she is old. Proverbs 23:22

Lord thank You for families.

Solomon wanted his son to listen to the knowledge he had to give him as his father. He also wanted him to respect his mother to the end of her life.

We too as adults are never to old to learn. Thank You for helping us listen and obey Your words of wisdom.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Hear, my son, and be wise, and direct your mind in the way. Be not among winebibbers, or among gluttonous eaters of meat; for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe a man with rags. Proverbs 23:19 – 21

Lord thank You for the wisdom of Solomon. His wisdom if taken to heart would save his son and it will save us today too.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

My son, if your heart is wise, my heart too will be glad. My soul will rejoice when your lips speak what is right. Let not your heart envy sinners but continue in the fear of the Lord all the day. Surely there is a future and your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 23:15 -18

Lord what beautiful verses these are and the prayer of every parent for their child.

Thank You for Solomon’s words that continue to encourage his son to follow You all the days of his life.

Thank You that we can come to you in prayer as we instruct and pray for our children today.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you beat him with a rod, he will not die. If you beat him with the rod you will save his life from Sheol. Proverbs 23:13, 14

Lord …. What controversial verses these are today.

Are our children better off today than in Solomon’s day?

Lord I thank You for Your guidance and direction as we discipline our children. You are there….You show us the way….You help us discipline with love and instruction.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Apply your mind to instruction and your ear to words of knowledge. Proverbs 23:12

Lord what Solomon is telling his son are words we all need to hear and take to heart.

There is this quest within me that I thank You for that calls me on to learn more and more every day. More about life…..more about people….more about You Lord…and I thank You for that quest.. It is your gift to me.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Do not remove an ancient landmark or enter the fields of the fatherless; for their Redeemer is strong; he will plead their cause against you. Proverbs 23:10, 11

Lord…once again in these verses we hear Solomon instructing his son. First he tells him not to remove an ancient landmark. Next he tells him not to enter the fields of the fatherless. If he entered the field of the fatherless he would be the loser because You (Redeemer) were watching over them.

Lord what a comfort this verse is to the single moms in our world today. Thank You Lord for Your love and protection.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words. Proverbs 23:9

Discernment …. Lord …once again Solomon is trying to teach his son discernment.

I have prayed for it often Lord because at times it is very hard to know about people. Con artists are so cleaver and hard to discern. They can be so sneaky. It is Your wisdom that helps us see right through their deception. Thank You!

Thank You Lord.

Amen
