He who is sated loathes honey but to one who is hungry everything bitter is sweet. Providers 27:7
Lord this little verse says a lot to Solomon’s son and it says a lot to us.
It is so easy to fall into a trap when we are needy.
Thank You for filling the longings of our heart with Your love and Your peace. Oh how that helps us through life Lord and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy. Proverbs 27:6
Lord ….Solomon was trying to teach his son that it hurt when a friend did something to you but when you were kissed by an enemy there often was no getting over that pain and destruction. Once again he was trying to teach him to be wise when choosing his friends.
This reminds us all Lord that we need Your guidance. Oh how we thank You for Your help and wisdom. Thank You for ALWAYS being there.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Proverbs 27:5
Lord….I am having a hard time trying to understand what Solomon was trying to teach his son. Perhaps what he is trying to tell him is that it is much better to have someone tell him he is wrong than to try and hide the love he has for someone other than his wife. Certainly that would save him from a lot of discord in his life.
Thank You Lord for those in our lives that can be honest with us and help us on this journey. There are those that are willing to risk even a friendship to help us see what You want for our lives. They are certain our gift and we thank You for each one. Thank You for their prayers and their love.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

Wrath is cruel, anger is overwhelming; but who can stand before jealousy? Proverbs 27:4
Lord …Solomon was so right in warning his son again a jealous person. It is very hard to be around someone that is jealous. It is often hard not to be jealous when others have what we want and feel we should have. Jealousy is pretty sneaky Lord. It can catch us unaware if we don’t watch out for it.
Thank You Lord for helping us keep our eyes upon You and all You want for our lives.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

A stone is heavy and sand is weighty but a fool’s provocation is heavier than both. Proverbs 27:3
Lord….Solomon had a lot to say about fools. He keeps warning his son all the way through the book of Proverbs to be aware of those that would take advantage of him. He keeps using illustrations over and over of the different ways his son could be taken advantage of.
Lord these are warnings to us also. We too need to be wise and have eyes wide open. Thank You for being with us and helping us discern right from wrong. We need Your direction Lord and thank You for ALWAYS being there.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

Let another praise you and not your own mouth; a stranger and not your own lips. Proverbs 27:2
Lord….It seems Solomon wanted his son to realize that all that he was and all he had been given were gifts from You. Rather than brag about what he had and who he was he was to learn to quietly thank You for all You had given him.
It is very humbling when we ponder all that You are to us and all You have given us. Every breath is Your gift to us. Thank You for being with us each step of our lives. We are wonderfully blessed.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

Do not boast about tomorrow for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1
Lord….we sure have learned how true this verse is. Solomon wanted his son to be wise and realize that he could make plans but don’t boast about them because our lives don’t always bring forth what we had ‘bragged’ they would. How well we know when things aren’t as we had planned who is in control. Certainly we need to go about our day as if all was going to be as planned but know that You are the Master of our fate. It is You we need to thank at the end of the day when all has gone as planned. AND we do thank You Lord because You are ALWAYS there.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

A lying tongue hates its victims and a flattering mouth works ruin. Proverbs 26:28
Lord…. Solomon sure had a lot to say to his son about lying. He is warning him over and over about the deception of the liar and their ways of making you feel good with words.
We too Lord need to take heed and listen to what Solomon is saying to us. The same is true for us today. It is so easy to be deceived.
Thank You for ALWAYS being there to guide and direct. We need You Lord and thank You that we can trust You.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

He who digs a pit will fall into it and a stone will come back upon him who starts it rolling. Proverbs 26:27
Lord…how true it is those that cause trouble think they will never be caught and yet our prisons are full and overflowing today. BUT there is hope for them. Many have found You Lord to be what they were searching for and their lives have been changed.
Thank You for prayer and the power it has to change lives.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

The words of a whisperer are delicious morsels; that go down into the inner parts of the body. Like the glaze covering an earthen vessel are smooth lips with an evil heart. He who hates, dissembles with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart; when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart; though his hatred be covered with guile, his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly. Proverbs 26:22 – 26
Lord just reading what Solomon was telling his son gave me an eerie feeling. Certainly this was a person I would not like to be around. The sad part of this story is that these types of people are very hard to detect. They are such con artists we need Your discernment to see through them and see the evil within them.
Thank You Lord for giving us Your wisdom and discernment. Thank You for always being there for us.
Thank You Lord.
Amen
