Thought For Today

Scoffers set a city aflame but wise men turn away wrath. Proverbs 29:8

Lord what a privilege it is to be around someone that is wise. They have such insights. They calm the troubled waters of life. Often they bring peace just by being around them. Truly they have been given a great gift and we all benefit from their gift.

Solomon was that for his son ….and that for us today as we listen to what he is saying to us over and over.

Thank You for preserving this book of Proverbs to help us grow in wisdom.

A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge. Proverbs 29:7

Lord today we often say that our world is getting worse and worse. Reading this verse shows me that the era Solomon lived in was just like ours.

Thank You Lord for the ‘righteous man’ that loves You and walks with You daily.

Thank You too that You give each of us the ability and power to be righteous.

Thank You Lord.

A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet. An evil man is ensnared in his transgressions but a righteous man sings and rejoices. Proverbs 29:5, 6

Lord….when I think on this verse it makes me grateful for those that love and serve You. Truly we are blessed to sing and rejoice. We have been given so much to sing about and rejoice about. You are ALWAYS with us. What a gift! Solomon knew that and wanted his son to know it too. Oh how we thank You.

By justice a king gives stability to the land but one who exacts gifts ruins it. Proverbs 29:4

Lord …Solomon was trying to teach his son what he had learned. In this verse he wanted to teach his son the value of a good king. A king that was honest. A king that cared about not only himself but his people too.

Thank You Lord for honest leaders. Thank You for leaders that know You and love You. They are our gift. They are our blessing.

He who loves wisdom makes his father glad but one who keeps company with harlots squanders his substance. Proverbs 29:3

Lord thank You for the wisdom and insight You alone can give us. Solomon was known to be the wisest man that ever lived. He was given that wisdom from You Lord and he certainly wanted to share all of it with his son. He knew what would help his son throughout his life.

We are fortunate to be able to read the wisdom that he was giving his son. Certainly if his son was listening and obeying it would make Solomon very ‘glad.’

Thank You Lord that we too can learn from Solomon’s wisdom. What a gift to us and we thank You.

Have no anxiety about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with THANKSGIVING let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6, 7

Lord…we thank You for Your many promises in the Bible. This is one of the passages that is a gift and a blessing that we can dwell on during this ‘Thanksgiving’ time and all year long. I thank You for Your peace and Your joy. Your peace certainly does pass all human understanding and I thank You for it.

Lord ….this verse helps me realize more and more that our hope and trust can only be in You.

Thank You for being with us all the time.

Thank You for Your wisdom and Your guidance as we trust You each day.

We are Your children and You love us and we thank You for ALWAYS being with us.

Lord thank You for helping us accept the changes we need to make in our lives when they are pointed out to us.

Thank You for discernment.

Thank You for always being there to guide and direct us. Oh how we need Your direction and Your love.

Lord thank You for the righteous people in this world.

Thank You for those that follow Your leading in their lives.

Thank You for the joy of knowing You and Your peace.

He who gives to the poor will not want but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse. Proverbs 28:27

Lord I am very thankful for those that gave to our struggling family when I was a child. Today I praise and thank You that I can now be a blessing to others just as others were a blessing to me.

Lord….this statement made by Solomon to his son certainly says a lot….’He who gives to the poor will not want’…. Your gift to us Lord when we are faithful in giving back a part of what You have blessed us with. Thank You.
