David continues about the wicked. ‘They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly. They track me down; now they surround me; they set their eyes to cast me to the ground. Psalms 17:10 – 12’

Lord what a wonderful gift it was to David to be able to cry out to You. He was desperate. They were attempting to kill him. You were all he had.

Lord how wonderful our lives are because we too can call out to You for help. We like David know You are always there. We are never alone and what a comforting thought that is. Oh how we praise and thank You for Your peace.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of Thy wings, from the wicked who despoil me, my deadly enemies who surround me. Psalms 17:8, 9

Lord….David knew what it was to be hunted down to be killed and he could write this verse from experience. What a comfort it is to trust in You like David did. We all are the ‘apple of Your eye.’ Oh what an awesome thought that is to dwell upon. You know us and You love us. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

Wondrously show Thy steadfast love, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at Thy right hand. Psalms 17:7

Thank You Lord for Your steadfast love. A love that is totally unconditional. A love that loves even those unlovely parts of us that we so often see in ourselves. Oh how we thank and praise You for changing us into Your likeness moment by moment.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

I call upon Thee, for Thou wilt answer me, O God; incline Thy ear to me, hear my words. Psalms 17:6

Once again Lord, David is calling out to You. He knows You will hear him and he knows You will answer him.

Thank You Lord for allowing us to come boldly with our requests.

Thank You for the comfort You provide while we listen for Your answer.

Thank You for the confidence that assures us that You are there. We are blessed and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

David continued…. My steps have held fast to Thy paths, my feet have not slipped. Psalms 17:5

Lord what a wonderful statement David was saying to You. Was he perfect? No we know he wasn’t and yet he could say that he ‘held fast to Thy paths.’

Oh how we thank You that You love us unconditionally. We too hold fast to Your paths. We too long to follow You closely. We know there is a peace that passes all understanding when we keep our eyes upon You. Thank You for Your peace Lord and always being with us.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

If Thou triest my heart, if Thou visitest me by night, if Thou testest me, Thou wilt find no wickedness in me; my mouth does not transgress. Psalms 17:3, 4

Lord it is wonderful when we like David can tell You how we have done our best to follow You. There is great joy in following You. Oh to be like You Lord in all we do and say. We love You Lord and thank You for loving us.

Thanks You Lord.

Amen.

Hear a just cause, O Lord; attend to my cry! Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit! From Thee let my vindication come! Let Thy eyes see the right! Psalms 17:1, 2

Lord once again David is crying out to You. Yesterday he was on the mountain top singing Your praise and today he is crying out to You for help.

Lord I am so thankful that You never get tired of hearing our cries. Thank You for teaching us in each trial You help us through. You are always there and I thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

For Thou does not give me up to Sheol, or let Thy godly one see the Pit. Thou dost show me the path of life; in Thy presence there is fullness of joy, in Thy right hand are pleasures for evermore. Psalms 16:10, 11

Lord it is very interesting to continue reading and see how David was crying out for help and now that he is still alive he is thanking and praising You. His whole conversation with You has changed to joy and pleasure and he even says ‘for evermore.’

We too so often are like David crying out for strength and help. How good it is for us to look back and see how You have helped and given us strength. We too thank You and praise You and marvel at the way You have helped us. Once again Lord we thank You for Your continued gifts and blessings. You are always there. Oh how we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

(Because the Lord is at my right hand) Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure. Psalms 16:9

How thankful we are Lord that You are always with us each moment of every day. Thank You for the security we have in You. We truly are glad and our souls rejoice. We are never alone Lord and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen

David continued…. I keep the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Psalms 16:8

Lord …how wonderful it is to keep You before us just as David did. Because we know You and love You nothing can take us away from You.

These are wonderful thoughts to ponder Lord. They draw us even closer to You and Your unconditional love. Thank You for always listening when we call out to You or sing praises to You.

Thank You Lord.

Amen
