Thought For Today

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy the Angel Gabriel was sent by God to Nazareth a town in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary, who was engaged to Joseph, a descendant of David.  Luke 1:26, 27

Lord, thank You for sharing YOUR story.  I love hearing these details and You knew we would love them too.  I love it that an Angel came to earth to tell Mary part in the history of Your birth.  How special Gabriel must have felt to be sharing this wonder news.  Thank You for blessing us all with these exciting details.  We know Elizabeth was the mother of John the Baptist and what a beautiful part he too plays in the history of Jesus’ life.  As we read on we will learn more and our hearts will once again be blessed with Your coming.  Thank You for the joy You bring into this season as we reflect on YOUR love for us.

When Joseph awoke from his sleep he carried out what the angel commanded of the Lord.  He took to him his wife but had no marital relations with her until she had given birth to her first-born son, whom he called Jesus.  Matthew 1:24, 25

Thank You Lord for all the details You have given us about Your birth.  How blessed we are to know all that was going on before You were even born.  Thank You for Joseph’s love for You and Your desire for his life.  He listened and obeyed.  Thank You for the great example that is for us in our lives today.  You teach us through Joseph that others may not understand and may talk about us, but it is important for us to listen to You and follow.  Thank You for helping us listen to You and follow You today.

She (Mary) will give birth to a son, and you are to call Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.  All this took place in fulfillment of what the Lord had said through the prophet.  Matthew 1:20, 21

Thank You Lord for coming to earth as a baby to save us all from our sins.  Thank You for asking all of us to come to You.  You are waiting with open arms to receive us.  Thank You for giving us freedom and peace by taking away our sins and making us a whole new person.  Lord, You were the long-awaited Savior that everyone was waiting for.  Today, we are no different than the people of the day You were born.  Today we are watching and waiting for You to come back to the earth and take those that love You and are following You to heaven with You.  Thank You for preparing our home to spend all eternity with You.

The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way:  When His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.  But as Joseph, her fiancé, was fair-minded and did not want to disgrace her publicly, he planned to break with her secretly.  But while he was considering this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, be not afraid to take Mary as your wife, for what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.   Matthew 1:18 – 20

Thank You Lord for telling Your story.  Thank You for coming to earth for each one of us and calling us to become Your children.  Thank You that year after year we can rejoice in Your birth.  Christmas is a wonderful day.  Our hearts are humbled as we reflect on Your humble beginning.  Thank You for Joseph that believed and stood by Mary.  Thank You for choosing Mary.  Thank You for sending the angel to Joseph.  Thank You for the many beautiful parts to Your story.  But most of all Lord we thank and praise You that all this happened for us to be able to accept You as our Lord and Savior and spend all eternity with You.  Oh how we thank and praise You for coming as a baby to teach us how to live our lives today.

Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!  Stand in His presence with awe, all the earth.  Psalms 96:9

Thank You Lord for Your holiness.  We do stand with awe.  Thank You for blessing us today with the peace and joy that only You can provide.  Thank You for this wonderful time of the year when we are filled with Your joy as we reflect on Your coming to earth and all it means to us.  We love You Lord and thank You for calling us to come follow You.  Thank You for changing our lives as we walk with You.

The Lord reigns: He has robed Himself with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength; thus has He girded Himself.  The world also is firmly established; it cannot be moved.  Psalm 93:1

Thank You Lord for reigning over all the world.  Thank You for the safety we feel with You robed with majesty and clothed with strength.  Thank YOU for being in control.  With so much always going on in the world, we thank YOU for helping us trust.  Thank You for being OUR strength.  Thank YOU for helping us trust that You will help us through the changing times in our lives.  We love You Lord and thank You for leading us moment by moment and day by day.

In old age they shall still be bearing fruit.  They shall be full of life and vitality, thus testifying that the Lord is upright, my rock, in whom there is no unrighteousness.   Psalm 92:14, 15

Thank You Lord for helping us bear fruit for You until You call us home.  Thank You for the wonderful heritage You have given me.  My Aunt Mary lived to be 104 years old and had prayed for me every day until she went to be with You in heaven.  How blessed I was knowing her prayers would help me through each day.  Thank You for this promise that even when our bodies begin to age we can still be inwardly full of life full of vitality.  Thank You for being our rock.  Thank You for helping us trust You.  We thank and praise You Lord for using us today no matter what age we are.

Those who have been transplanted into the Lord’s household, they shall flourish in the courtyards of our God.  Psalm 92:13

Lord how we thank and praise You for this exciting verse.  What a beautiful thought to know that we have been TRANSPLANTED into Your household.  Safe and Secure.  We are a part of Your household.  And there is even more to this wonderful thought….. WE SHALL FLOURISH in Your courtyards.  We have a very special place where we WILL flourish.  Thank You for helping us FLOURISH every day as You draw us closer to You.  Thank You for helping us listen to Your guidance to become all You are calling us to do today.

Thank You Lord for helping us become Your righteous followers.  Thank You for helping us WANT to be a righteous person.  A righteous person is one that is -Living in a right relationship with You – Living in a right relationship with others and all Your creation.  Thank You for Always being there when we need Your strength to be more than we ever thought we could be.  Thank You for the joy in knowing You are with us to help us.  We love You Lord and thank You for Your peace today.

Thank You Lord for always thinking about us.  Thank You for faith to believe.  Thank You for calling us to become closer and closer to You.  Thank You for the miracles we see when we ask and receive.  Blessings from You because You love us with an everlasting love that is unconditional.   Thank You for guiding our lives today.
