Thought For Today

Malicious witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I know not. They requite me evil for good; my soul is forlorn. But I, when they were sick….I wore sackcloth, I afflicted myself with fasting. I prayed with head bowed on my bosom, as though I grieved for my friend or my brother; I went about as one who laments his mother, bowed down and in mourning. But at my stumbling they gathered in glee, they gathered together against me; cripples who I knew not slandered me without ceasing; they impiously mocked more and more, gnashing at me with their teeth. How long, O Lord, wilt thou look on? Rescue me from their ravages, my life from the lions. Then I will thank Thee in the great congregation; to the mighty throng I will praise Thee. Psalms 35:11 – 18

Thank You Lord that You hear and answer our prayers.

David continued ….. All my bones shall say, “O Lord, who is like Thee; those who deliverest the weak from him who is too strong for him, the weak and needy from him who despoils him. Psalms 35:10

Lord …David was thanking You for answering his prayers. He was alive because You intervened and protected him.

How wonderful it is when we see answers to our prayers. Our words of thanks may be different than his but OH how we thank You. Miracles are such a wonderful gift and blessing. They teach us to trust You and cause our faith to grow. We learn to trust You more and more. We thank You for each gift and each blessing.

David Continued ….. Let them be put to shame and dishonor who seek after my life! Let them be turned back, and confounded who devise evil against me! Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them on! Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them! For without cause they had their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life. Let ruin come upon them unawares! And let the net which they hid ensnare them; let them fall therein to ruin! Then my soul shall rejoice in the Lord, exulting in His deliverance. Psalms 35:4 – 9

Thank You Lord that You are always there for us.

David was giving You what he thought would work in order to rescue him from those that wanted to kill him. Oh how often we too tell You how to help us when we call upon You. Thank You for knowing the beginning and the end of our lives. Thank You for helping us in the way that You know is best for us. You are always with us and we thank You for knowing the answer that is best for our lives.

Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! Take hold of shield and buckler, and rise for my help! Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, “I am your deliverance.” Psalms 35:1 – 3

Thank You Lord for David’s experience that gave him the knowledge and confidence to writing these verses. We certainly can identify with him. There is great comfort and peace knowing You are ‘our deliverer’ and we thank You.

David continues about the righteous. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. Evil shall slay the wicked; and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. The Lord redeems the life of the servants; none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned. Psalms 34:20 – 23

Thank You Lord for Your protection. Thank You for the opportunity to come to You in prayers any time of the day or night. You are there watching over us and we thank You. Thank You for being with us today. Your peace is ours for the taking.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalms 34:19

Lord thank You for this verse that is so comforting. Yes we have challenges in our life but You are right there to help us through each one. David knew this from his experiences.

Thank You for ALWAYS being there just as You promised You would be.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalms 34:18

Thank You Lord for this wonderful promise. David knew what he was talking about when he wrote this Psalm. He like us Lord had been through many things in his lifetime and yet he always landed on his feet because he knew You were near. He tells us that you are near when we are brokenhearted.

You are near when the wedding planned was canceled because of the virus. You were near when the funeral could not take place to be with family and friends during a time when friends and family were needed. You were near for our sad children that worked so hard in school only to have graduations cancelled. And the list goes on and on and Your love covers all of them. ‘The Lord IS near’ ….. You are there loving us and we thank You.

The face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Psalms 34:16, 17

Lord how grateful we are that You are always there for us. You hear our calls for help. You hear our calls for protection. You hear our calls for help through this troubled world. Oh how we thank You that no matter where we are You are with us to guide us and direct us. Our hearts are full of love for You and we thank You.

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears toward their cry. Psalms 34:15

Lord how wonderful it is to know that Your eyes are upon us and Your ears are listening when we cry out to You. We are never without Your unconditional love. Oh how we thank You.

Lord…thank You for Your help. Oh that we would always keep our tongues under control. It is my desire …it is my goal….but oh Lord I sure need Your help and Your wisdom.

Thank You for Your peace. A peace that passes my own human understanding. You are there Lord and I thank You.
