Thought For Today

Then He (Jesus) opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” Luke 24:45 – 47

Thank You Lord for opening their minds to understand the scriptures.

Thank You for opening our minds too.

Thank You for giving the scriptures long before You came to earth because You knew what Your plan for our lives would be.

Thank You that we can relax in Your promises as we live for You knowing that You are in control.

Then He (Jesus) said to them, “These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.
Luke 24:44

Once again Lord I have to thank You that You always keep Your word.

Much had been written in the scriptures and You fulfilled each thing that was written.

Thank You for the hope You give us all in telling us You will come again.

Thank You for the joy in serving and loving You.

Thank You Lord.

Thank You Lord that You always keep Your promises.

Thank You for showing these men that You were who You said You were.

Thank You for helping them see that You were fitting into God’s plan that was written long before You came to earth.

Thank You that You are that same Lord today.

Thank You for giving us the peace that You promised.

Thank You Lord.

And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, He (Jesus) said, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave Him a piece of broiled fish, and He took it and ate before them. Luke 24:41, 42

Thank You Lord for the excitement these men felt because You were with them.

Thank You for Your humility when You asked them for food and ate before them.

Thank You for their willingness to share what they had with You.

Thank You Lord for being with us each moment of every day.

Oh how blessed we are because of Your love for us.

And He (Jesus) said to them, “Why are you troubled and why do questionings rise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have.” Luke 24:38, 39

Thank You Lord for always showing us who You are.

Thank You for coming to these men and making Yourself known.

Thank You that when we seek You we can always find You.

Thank You for the joy You bring as we follow You.

But they were startled and frightened, and supposed that they saw a spirit. Luke 24:37

Lord it is so interesting that these men were walking on the road and you appeared to them and scared them. They thought they were seeing a spirit. You had been telling them all along that You would rise again and yet they were scared. Oh Lord how often You speak to us and yet we act as if we don’t know You either.

Thank You Lord for opening our eyes and helping us see You and understand You.

Thank You for the peace that You give us when we know it is You.

Thank You for faith to believe and accept.

Thank You for the joy in following You.

You provide so many gifts and so much love.

Thank You Lord.

As they were saying this, Jesus Himself stood among them. Luke 24:36

Oh how exciting! You were there Lord. Right in their midst.

Thank You Lord for the gift of Your presence.

Thank You for the peace and joy of knowing that You are always with us.

Then they (apostles) told what had happened on the road, and how He (Jesus) was known to them in the breaking of the bread. Luke 24:35

Lord I am such an interviewer that I would have to have asked those talking why they didn’t know who You were.

What changed within them and their minds that caused them to know You when You broke bread with them.

What was different? What changed? How did they know it was You at that instance? There is so much I wonder about Lord.

Today Lord I thank You that Your sheep know Your voice.

Thank You for speaking to us and letting us know it is You.

Thank You for the joy of having a personal relationship with You.

And they (apostles) rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem; and they found the eleven gathered together and those who were with them, who said, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” Luke 24:33, 34

Lord what an exciting time for those that were there.

You had done what You predicted. You were alive.

Thank You Lord for showing them and us too that You always keep Your word.

Thank You for hope.

Thank You for the promise that You will never leave or forsake us.

Thank You for peace that You are taking care of us.

Thank You for the joy You bring when we trust You.

They (apostles) said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while He (Jesus) talked to us on the road, while He opened to us the scriptures?” Luke 24:31, 32

Lord how wonderful to have our hearts burn within us when we sit at Your feet.

Oh how our hearts long to know You better and now after the fact these apostles realized who they were listening to.

Thank You Lord for opening our eyes of understanding.

Thank You for insight.

Thank You for knowledge.

Thank You for joy.

All are our gifts from You Lord.
