Thought For Today

(Jesus continued talking with His disciples about the deception that would happen before He came back to earth.)

“Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.” Matthew 24:17-22

Lord what can I say. Terrible times to live through. But because of Your love for us those days will be shortened.

Lord I know Your plan is perfect. I also know that unless I have faith and trust it would be very frightening. I thank You that I can trust You. I thank You for always being there when I cry out to You. Thank You!

“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place.” (whoever reads, let him understand). “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.” Matthew 24:15, 16

Scary times Lord. The following verses have much more to say about trying to get away for what will be going on. It is not a pleasant time to live. Many will fall away from their trust in You as we read before.

Thank You Lord that we need not fear. Thank You that we know as we continue to look to You and trust You we have the assurance that You will be with us always. Oh how we praise and thank You.

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14

Lord, we believers wait and wonder – is this the last tribe? And then we hear of another tribe in the remote parts of the world being discovered that had never heard of You. And then once again we wonder….was this the last tribe….. And we are reminded that no man knows the hour when You will return. We wait with great anticipation.

Thank You Lord for the promise that You will come again. We wait….and watch….and wonder. We know it is going to happen…..You always keep Your word. Thank You for each one of Your promises that are so special to us. Oh how we thank You for loving us so unconditionally.

“And because lawlessness will abound the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Matthew 24:12, 13

Lord, You haven’t painted a very pretty picture of what is going to happen on this earth before You come back. BUT the good news is that those that endure to the end will be saved.

Thank You Lord for giving us the strength and wisdom to endure.

Thank You for helping us each step of the way.

We love You Lord and thank You.

“Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.” Matthew 24:11

Lord You have given us the tools to keep us from being deceived. It is up to us to use those tools and equip ourselves with the truth about You.

Thank You for Your guidance. Thank You for Your unconditional love. Thank You for Your help.

“And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.” Matthew 24:10

Lord it is interesting You don’t say ‘a few’ but You say ‘many.’ We are living in a ‘me’ generation. It’s all about ‘me’ and what ‘I’ like and what makes ‘me’ happy. Oh how I thank You that even though there are many that live life for themselves there are those that still think of others. There are ‘many’ that love You today and try to live by Your example of loving others.

Thank You that with Your help all things are possible. You give us the help when we are helpless. You give us the strength when we have none within ourselves. Thank You for ALWAYS being there when we need You.

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations for My name’s sake.” Matthew 24:9

Lord along with all the wonderful things that are happening in our world there are many things that are disturbing. The separation of church and state have gotten way out of control. After all people came here because they loved You and wanted to worship You. Our own OSF foundation was built because of the women that had Your calling and the courage to leave Germany and come where they could worship You freely. Today we often have to fight for our values and our love of You Lord.

Thank You for predicting all of these adversities. You know all about them and we thank You that we can come to You and ask for Your help through each trial. You are always with us and we thank You.

(Jesus continued telling His disciples what would deceive them.) “For nations will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matthew 24:7, 8

Lord, once more You wanted Your disciples to know that there was going to be a lot take place in this world before You would return. There would be wars, famines, pestilences and earthquakes all over the world. Lord we have experienced all of those things. BUT in the next verses You have even more things to say to us.

All of these things that are happening and going to happen remind me that as the old song says, ‘This World Is Not My Home I’m Just A Passin Through.’ It’s very easy to get so entrenched in this earth and forget we are just passing through.

Oh how I thank and praise You that You are my anchor. You are my safety net. You are in control.

(Jesus continued telling His disciples how they would be deceived.) “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” Matthew 24:6

Lord, we have not only had rumors of wars we have had many wars since You left this earth. You told Your disciples not to worry wars and rumors of wars are to be expected. We all keep hoping and praying each war will be the last one and then we are all of a sudden into another one.

Lord it is only you that can give us peace through these troubling times. Thank You that we can look to You and trust You. Thank You for the assurance that You ARE in control. You are our only hope Lord. Thank You for always being with us.

(Jesus continued telling His disciples what would deceive them.) “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.” Matthew 24:5

Lord, today we have many that would deceive us. There are many false doctrines that would hook us in because they are so close to the truth. It is only by staying in Your word and listening to You that we can discern the difference.

We are Your sheep and we hear Your voice. Oh how grateful I am for that Lord.

Thanks You for showing us the difference and nudging us with Your still small voice when we would be deceived. Oh how we want to hear from You Lord. Thank You for always being there.
