Thought For Today

And he (John) preached, say, “After me comes He who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I have baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” Mark 1:7, 8

Lord, John knew all about You and the power that was behind You. He wanted everyone else to know and love You as he did. He was the voice crying in the wilderness – preparing the way for You.

What a gift it is Lord to be that ‘voice’ crying in the crowds today – repent – turn from Your evil ways to the Lord. I pray Lord that my light will shine brightly for You and be a reflection of Your love living through me. Thank You for dying that I might live. I am truly blessed and I thank You.

Now John was clothed with camel hair, and had a leather girdle around his waist, and ate locusts and wild honey. Mark 1:6

Lord even today it never ceases to amaze me the different people You use to spread Your word. Often You use the most unlikely, unbecoming people. Here was John…way out of character for someone that would be so charismatic as to draw a crowd and yet everyone flocked to him and confessed their sins and were baptized.

Lord we are all valuable to You. We are all totally different and some of us are stranger in looks than others but You use us anyway just as we are. It’s truly amazing.

Thank You Lord for our individuality. Thank You for using us just as we are. Thank You for Your unconditional love. Oh how we need You and thank You.

And there went out to him (John the Baptist) all the country of Judea, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Matthew 1:5

Lord what a gift John was given. He was to prepare the way for You to enter the scene at age 30. His mission on earth was to make sure everyone knew of You. There was nothing selfish about what he was doing. He was never doing it to call attention to himself. He was there to bring attention to You Lord.

Thank You Lord for the gift of humility.

Thank You for helping us realize that we are what we are because of the abilities YOU have given us.

We were bought with a price….Your precious blood. Oh how I thank You.

(Mark continues) As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold I send My messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way; the voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make the paths straight….” John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Mark 1:2 – 4

Lord what a great messenger John the Baptist was. A bit strange and yet he had a great message. A message that would prepare all that heard him to repent and ask forgiveness of their sins.

Thank You for the ‘John the Baptists’ that are in this world today. I think of Billy Graham and how he cried out just as John did the message of repentance. And like John there were those that listen and obeyed.

Thank You for the boldness Lord to proclaim Your good news. May we always want to share our love of You with others. Thank You for the gift of sharing and the love that goes along with it. Your strength and You power surge through us Lord and we thank You.

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Mark 1:1

Thank You Lord for the opportunity to sit at Your feet and learn what Mark has to say to me through the inspiration of the book he wrote.

Luke was a doctor and it will be interesting to see what he saw as he wrote about You.

Thank You Lord for our individuality and the opportunity we are all given to see things through our own eyes.

You are always ready to help us see when we open our eyes to what You have to teach us. I’m so grateful to be able to sit at Your feet and learn. Oh how I thank You.

Thy decrees are very sure; holiness befits Thy house, O Lord, for evermore. Psalms 93:5

Lord we are so blessed to know that You always have the last word in anything in life. Our whole world is in existence because of You and that includes our lives. You see our comings and our goings. It is You that rejoices with us and holds our hand when we are sad.

Thank You for ALWAYS being with us. Oh how we thank You.

The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voices, the floods lift up their roaring. Mightier than the thunders of many water, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty! Psalms 93:3, 4

Thank you Lord for Your presence with us each moment of every day.

You are there even when we don’t feel You. We know that because You have told us You will never leave us or forsake us. Oh how we praise and thank You.

Thank You Lord for the Psalmist and His way of praising and thanking You.

We also thank You Lord for the same things today.

Thank You for being our strength.

You are always there for us and we thank You.

Thank You for always being there for me.

As I start this New Year with You Lord I thank You that I am not alone.

Lord what a gift we have in America to be able to worship freely.
