(Jesus continued) “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:38

Lord it is times like this that we need Your unconditional love. Thank You for seeing our hearts. Thank You for knowing our motives and desires. Thank You for never leaving us or forsaking us. You are always with us Lord and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

(Jesus continued after saying: ‘For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.’) “For what can a man give in return for his life.” Mark 8:37

Lord, it is You that gives us the gift of life. It is You that gives us our breath each day. It is You that guides us and directs us and helps us manage our lives. Oh how we praise and thank You.

Thank You Lord.

For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his life. Mark 8:36

Lord You have given us the gift of eternal life. It is our for the taking. You paid the price so we could live with You for all eternity.

Oh how we thank You. Oh how we praise You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) called to Him the multitude with His disciples, and said to them, “If any man would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.” Mark 8:34, 35

Lord there are many times it is not easy to deny ourselves and take up our cross. We often want our own way and to do what we want to do rather than what You are calling us to do. Oh how I thank You that You hold on to us and guide us on the right pathway. We are Your children and You love us.

Thank You. Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) said this plainly. (What would happen to Him.) And Peter took Him, and began to rebuke Him. But turning and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter, and said, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not on the side of God, but of men.” Mark 8:32, 33

Lord it is wonderful when we know we are doing Your will. That is how You must have felt because You were here to do Your Father’s will. How great that must have made You feel.

Peter didn’t like it that You said You were going to suffer and die. He wanted to talk You out of even entering such thoughts.

Thank You Lord for always hearing us when we cry out to You. Oh how we Love YOU Lord.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) began to teach them (His disciples) that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. Mark 8:31

Lord what must your disciples have thought. They loved You.

Thank You Lord that because You died we have eternal life. Thank You for giving Your life for us.

Thank You for the gift of life and a life that will spend all eternity with You. Oh how blessed we are Lord because we know and love You.

Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And He (Jesus) charged them (His disciples) to tell no one about Him. Mark 8:30

Lord it seems every time someone was healed You ask them not to tell anyone. Now You are saying that same thing to Your disciples. I’m not sure why. Perhaps it was because there were already so many that mobbed You to see the spectacular. Your request to us today is to ‘go into all the world and preach the gospel.’ You want us to tell everyone about You today.

Our lives are changed. We are looking to You for our guidance. Oh how we thank You for always showing us the best way. The right way. Thank You.

Thank You Lord.

And He (Jesus) asked them, (His disciples) “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered Him, “You are the Christ.” Mark 8:29

Thank You Lord for Mark’s account of this event. Your disciples knew who You were and today we also know who You are. You truly are the Christ – the Son of the living God.

Oh how blessed I have been my whole life to have accepted You as my Lord and my Savior at the young age of eight. I have had the gift and opportunity to follow You my whole life. Oh how I praise and thank You for my walk with You.

Thank You Lord.

And they (Jesus disciples) told Him, (Jesus – when he asked-“Who do men say that I am?”) “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others one of the prophets.” Mark 8:28

Thank You Lord that we know You and know who You truly are.

Thank You Lord for Your unconditional love.

Thank You for joy You bring in doing Your will.

Thank You for Your peace.

Thank You Lord. Thank You.
