If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will be put out to utter darkness. Proverbs 20:20
Lord the one thing a parent wants is for their child to love and respect them. In this verse it appears to me that Solomon wanted to instill this in his son.
Thank You for parents like Solomon that love us enough to train us. That is what Solomon was doing with his son. He wanted him to not only love You Lord but also to know how to get along in this world while putting You first in his life.
These are certainly lesson we can learn too. Lessons that will help us not only in our walk with You Lord but in getting along with others here on earth. They teach us how to respect and enjoy others on our pathway of life. Thank You for each lesson we are learning. They are gift from You Lord and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

He who goes about gossiping reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with one who speaks foolishly. Proverbs 20:19
Lord what a wonderful warning Solomon is giving his son that we can all listen to and follow.
Thank You Lord for allowing us to keep secrets and the bond that is made between two people.
Friendships are Your gifts to be treasured and I thank You for them.
Thank You Lord.

Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man but afterward his mouth will be full of gravel. Proverbs 20:17
Lord….it is a horrible thing to be a deceptive person.
Solomon sure wanted to warn his son never to be deceptive because it didn’t end well.
Lord thank You for changing us into Your image.
Thank You for helping us each and every day become more and more like You.
Thank You Lord.

Take a man’s garment when he has given surety for a stranger and hold him in pledge when he gives surety for foreigners. Proverbs 20:16
Lord I am having a hard time understand this verse. It appears that Solomon is trying to tell his son to be cautious of those that don’t use their common sense when they give loans to strangers and those they do not know. In other wards ….don’t you loan money to them thinking they will pay it back because there is no guarantee with a person like that.
Thank You Lord for the faithful in this world that help others along their way. You guide…..You direct….You show us who needs help and who are imposters and I thank You for that.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

There is gold, and abundance of costly stones; but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel. Proverbs 20:15
Thank You Lord for knowledge.
There are some of us Lord that never seem to gain enough of it and the quest for learning goes on a lifetime. This is Your gift to us Lord and I thank You for it.
Thank You for Solomon and his love for his son. In teaching his son he teaches us too. Thank You for the knowledge You gave him.
Thank You Lord.

“It is bad, it is bad,” says the buyer; but when he goes away, then he boasts. Proverbs 20:14
Lord Solomon knew how to put situations so his son would remember them. Here he is showing the lying and deception of someone that didn’t want to pay the price that the seller was asking. Then when he was able to buy it for less walked away laughing. How sad!!!!
Thank You Lord for honesty.
Thank You for helping us stay committed to our own values.
Thank You for Your help each step of our way Lord. We love You and thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have plenty of bread. Proverbs 20:13
Lord how true Solomon’s words are. Today we would say, ‘ If you don’t work you don’t eat. ‘
Solomon was instilling this in his son’s memory because he knew he would need it to survive in life.
Thank You for the lessons You teach us Lord that are with us for life.
Thank You Lord.

The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both. Proverbs 20:12
Lord when we reflect on how wonderfully our bodies were made we thank You.
Truly to see and hear are tremendous gifts.
I think Solomon is trying to instill in his son’s thoughts how valuable these gifts are and to treasure them as gifts from You. Use these gifts to honor You Lord that gave them to him. Use our eyes to see and thank You for the beautify seen all around. Listen to the sounds that You have given that honor and praise You. Be grateful …. Use these gifts wisely and with gratitude.
Thank You Lord. We have so much to thank and praise You for because of our eyes and ears.
Thank You Lord.
Amen
