Those who forsake the law praise the wicked but those who keep the law strive against them. Proverbs 28:4
Lord… thank You for freedom and a safe environment.
Thank You for those that keep our country safe and those that keep us safe individually. Each person is a gift to us and I thank You for each one of them.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

A poor man who oppresses the poor is a beating rain that leaves no food. Proverbs 28:3
Lord this is interesting how Solomon says this to his son.
This man certainly could have been kind to those that were poor but instead he oppressed them They thought there was some hope but it was like a crop they planted that the beating rain destroyed.
Thank You Lord for the hope You alone can give. Yes, we have our disappointments but we know You are there helping us and giving us hope to go on. Oh how we thank You.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

When the grass is gone, and the new growth appears, and the herbage of the mountains is gathered, the lambs will provide your clothing, and the goats the price of a field; there will be enough goats’ milk for your food, for the food of your household and maintenance for your maidens. Proverbs 27:25 – 27
Lord….Solomon was once again showing his son the product of his hard work. He would have plenty if he worked for it. He wasn’t to depend on his father’s riches. He wasn’t to sit idle and let the servants do all the work. He was to work hard and provide for his own household.
Lord …this is no different than what is required of us today. What Solomon was teaching his son is what You are teaching us.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

Know well the condition of your flocks and give attention to your herds; for riches do not last forever; and does a crown endure to all generations? Proverbs 27:23, 24
Lord….over and over Solomon reminds his son that he must work. Here he is reminding him that even though he has plenty today he may not have plenty tomorrow. He must continue to watch his flocks.
Good advice for us today too Lord. Thank You for all You are providing for us. Thank You for ALWAYS being with us.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

Crush a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his folly will not depart from him. Proverbs 27:22
Lord it seems Solomon is showing his son in many different illustrations that no matter what you do to a fool the fool never changes. They will continue being who they are. He wanted his son to stay away from them.
That is such good advice to us today too Lord. Thank You for the wisdom that helps us see the folly of their ways and the cunning, baffling way they try to entice. Thank You for opening our eyes and helping us see them for what they truly are.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and a man is judged by his praise. Proverbs 27:21
Lord ….Solomon continued to instill in his son humility. What would his son be like when he was praised by others. Would he take all the glory and become proud or would he be humble knowing that his life was a gift from You. Solomon wanted to instill within his son a love for You and for all You had given him.
Oh Lord we too are humbled by all that You have given us and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.
Amen

Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied and never satisfied are the eyes of man. Proverbs 27:20
Lord….Solomon was so wise in teaching his son that You are the only one that can satisfy. We hear it all the time ….fame…fortune…prestige….doesn’t satisfy. Solomon had all of that but he had You Lord and that is why he could write these things to his son.
Such great wisdom for us too Lord and we thank You. Thank You for calling us to ‘come follow You.’
Thank You Lord.
Amen
