Thought For Today

Thou didst deliver me from strife with the peoples; Thou didst make me the head of the nations; people whom I had not known served me. As soon as they heard of me they obeyed me; foreigners came cringing to me. Foreigners lost heart, and came trembling out of their fastnesses. Psalms 18:43 – 45

Lord as I read these verses I had to smile. Something wonderful had happened to David. Lord we have heard of his ups and downs and how he continued to trust in You. AND now we hear how You have blessed him. He had been praying for it and yet I smiled because I can sense an amazement within him because he really didn’t expect what he got. It was an unexpected gift and he was in awe.

Thank You Lord for Your blessings. Blessing that often amaze us. Gifts to us that we never expected as we prayed. Oh how we praise and thank You.

Thou didst make my enemies turn their backs to me, and those who hated me I destroyed. They cried for help, but there was none to save, they cried to the Lord, but He did not answer them. I beat them fine as dust before the wind; I cast them out like the mire of the streets. Psalms 18:40 – 42

We love You Lord and thank You for Your wisdom. David loved You and tells us how You helped him when he was in the middle of those that hated him and were trying to take his life. He cried out to You for help and trust You.

Thank You Lord for being that same Lord today. You are there when we cry out to You. Thank You for showing us the way.

I pursued my enemies and overtook them; and did not turn back till they were consumed. I thrust them through, so that they were not able to rise; they fell under my feet. For Thou didst gird me with strength for the battle; Thou didst make my assailants sink under me. Psalms 18:37 -39

Lord once again we see how You helped David. You gave him the strength he needed for the battle. He won.

Thank You Lord for the insights You give us for our struggles. David always turned to You for his strength and his wisdom. What a great example for us Lord. We too turn to You and You never fail us. You are there for us too and we thank You.

Thou didst give a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip. Psalms 18:36

Lord …David was praising You for the way You were taking care of him and helping him. We too praise You for being with us and helping us through the difficult times in our lives. We too have ‘wide places for our steps’ as You give us the insights we need that help us. Thank You for only being a prayer away. Thank You for Your wisdom. Thank You for the insights that are gained as we pray. You are awesome Lord and we love You and thank You.

He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. Thou has given me the shield of Thy salvation, and Thy right hand supports me, and Thy help made me great. Psalms 18:34, 35

Lord there are so many things we have to thank You for. We certainly thank You for giving us the strength physically each day. When we are feeling great it is so easy to forget to thank You. Thank You for my health and strength today.

Then David talks about Your shield of salvation and how You support him and make him great. Lord I certainly want to thank You for being with me today and helping me through the day with a smile on my face. Thank You for the assurance in knowing that You are right with me each step of the way today. So many things to thank You for and I humbly bow to say THANK YOU.

Thank You Lord for the security we have in You.

Thank You for loving us with an unconditional love. A love that picks us up when we stumble and fall and sends us on our way …..revived….renewed….rejoicing in Your love. Oh how blessed we are and I thank You.

David continued…. For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God–the God who girded me with strength, and made my way safe. Psalms 18:31, 32

Thank You Lord that we….. just like David ….can thank You for girding us with strength and making our way safe.

Thank You for being our rock.

Thank You for the confidence we can have in You.

Oh how we love You Lord and thank You for our many, many gifts and blessings. You ARE with us and we thank You.

Yea, by Thee I can crush a troop; and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God — His way is perfect; the promise of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him. Psalms 18:29, 30

Lord…David knew who You were and what You were doing for him. He had been protected from his enemies and was still alive to praise and thank You. He knew You were his shield and his strength.

Thank You Lord that You are exactly the same for us today too. We like David know we can depend upon You and take refuge in You.

Thank You Lord for being the light in the darkness. Oh how great it is Lord to know You and trust You. We all experience scary times in our life and how comforting it is to know You are right there with us. Peace is ours as we keep our eyes upon You.
