Thought For Today

Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief, my soul and my body also. For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my misery, and my bones waste away. I am the scorn of all my adversaries, a horror to my neighbors, an object of dread to my acquaintance; those who see me in the street flee from me. I have passed out of mind like one who is dead; I have become like a broken vessel. Yea, I hear the whispering of many —terror on every side! —as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life. BUT I trust in Thee, O Lord, I say, “Thou art my God.” Psalms 31:9 – 14

Lord…David was crying out in distress to You over all he had going on in his life. But as we see in the end he knew You were his God and he was trusting in You.

We understand how he was feeling Lord in some small measure because of all that is going on with the coronavirus. We feel helpless apart from You. We are calling upon You for protection. We are asking You for healing. We are asking You for strength. And Lord we are asking You for wisdom. We thank You for hearing us and the comfort You alone can bring.

You are our God and the master of this Universe. Each of our lives are in Your hands and we ask for Your help. Thank You for being with us each step of the way. Thank You for hearing our cries for help. Thank You for the peace that You give in the midst of the storms of life. We KNOW You are with us and we thank You.

Thank You Lord.

I will rejoice and be glad for Thy steadfast love, because Thou hast seen my affliction, Thou hast taken heed of my adversities, and hast not delivered me into the hand of the enemy, Thou hast set my feet in a broad place. Psalms 31:7, 8

Thank You Lord for the board place You have given us because of Your steadfast love. A love that is always there and never falters. A love that took You to the cross to free us all. We look to You and pray for Your protection. We thank You Lord that we are never alone. You continue to show us Your love. It is all around us and we thank You.

Thou hatest those who pay regard to vain idols; but I trust in the Lord. Psalms 31:6

Thank You Lord for the faith You give us to believe and trust. May times we have a blind faith. We know You are there but we wonder where and why don’t You change the situation. It is then that we must trust You and keep putting one foot in front of the other and wait for the answers to come. You are there. The time will reveal the answers. There are lessons to learn. Joy comes in the morning with the dawn of a new day with new answers. You are never too late and we thank You.

Incline Thy ear to me, rescue me speedily! Be Thou a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save Me! Yea, Thou art my rock and my fortress; for Thy name’s sake lead me and guide me, take me out of the net which is hidden from me, for Thou art my refuge. Into Thy hand I commit my spirit; Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God. Psalms 31:2 – 5

Thank You Lord that You are our rock and our fortress just as You were for David. We are just like David and wonder if You are going to rescue us before it is too late. We have doubts and fears until we stop and do what David did and realize that You are there. You have always been there. You love us and are with us each step of our lives. Oh how we thank and praise You. You are here today and we thank You.

In Thee, O Lord, do I seek refuge; let me never be put to shame; in Thy righteousness deliver me! Psalms 31:1

Thank You Lord that we can seek refuge in You.

Thank You that You are always with us.

Thank You for speaking peace to our hearts in the midst of the storms of life. We need that Lord because we like David cry out to be delivered. It is then that You remind us of Your words ….’Be still and know’ ….yes KNOW …that You are in the midst of the storm with us. Oh how we need to be reminded of that Lord. Thank You.

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; Thou hast loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, that my soul may praise Thee and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to Thee forever. Psalms 30:11, 12

Thank You Lord for the happiness that comes within us when we realize what You have done for us.

David was trying to bargain with You in our verses yesterday and today he is grateful for all You have done in his life.

We thank You Lord for our many gifts and blessing.

To Thee O Lord, I cried; and to the Lord I made supplication: “What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise Thee? Will it tell of Thy faithfulness? Hear, O Lord be Thou my helper!” Psalms 30:8 – 10

Lord how we thank You for always being with us.

It is very interesting Lord how David tries to bargain with You to get You to do what he wants You to do. Who of us have not done the same thing in subtle ways. We think what we want is the best for us not knowing what that outcome could be in the end.

Thank You Lord for helping us through the difficulties that we would much rather get out of. Over and over You remind us that Your grace is sufficient. You are there. You are helping us through the challenge. You will not forsake us. You are right there with us.

Thank You for giving us Your peace in the midst of the storm.

As for me, I said to my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.” By thy favor, O Lord, Thou hadst established me as a strong mountain: Thou didst hide Thy face, I was dismayed. Psalms 30:6, 7

Lord…David knew You had established him as a strong mountain and yet there were times when He wondered if You were really there. He tells us ‘he was dismayed.’ As we read the Psalms we find this out about David. It seems one moment he trusts You totally and the next moment He wonders if You are going to rescue him.

Thanks You Lord that we can know for sure that You are always with us ….You are there whether we feel like You are there or don’t feel like You are there. You are constant and we thank You for being there ALL the time. Thank You that Your being there doesn’t depend upon how WE feel. You are there no matter how we feel. It is a given! Oh how we thank You.

Lord I can never thank You enough for the joy in knowing You. I remember the song I so happily sang as a child…..’If you want joy, real joy, wonderful joy, let Jesus come into your heart.’ As a child I knew that joy and after all these years I understand more and more about that joy and peace that only You can give. Thank You for Your joy. Yes, JOY even in the mist of the coronavirus. You are with us helping us adjust while still keeping the joy of Your presence in our lives. Thank You for JOY and the peace it brings us.

Lord…how wonderful it is to sing praises to You and give You thanks. Thank You for Your unconditional love. Thank You for the joy of knowing You are right here with us. Thank You for Your calmness. We love You Lord and thank You.
