And (Jesus) taking with Him (to Gethsemane) Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful and troubled. Matthew 26:36

Lord, it is amazing how many times we can read something and never see what it is saying. Today the ‘sorrowful and troubled’ stand out when I read this verse. You were ‘sorrowful and troubled’ because of what was ahead of You. You took three of Your disciples to be with You. You didn’t go alone. You wanted someone with You.

Lord it is so easy for us to condemn ourselves for being ‘sorrowful and troubled’ but that was a part of Your life too. Why should I be so hard on myself and question myself as to where is my faith…… Why aren’t I trusting You more.

Thank You for showing me that in my human state it is okay to be ‘sorrowful and troubled.’ It is a part of being a human. You were here as a man and felt what we feel and enjoyed what we enjoy. You too were ‘sorrowful and troubled’ and it is okay if I am too at times knowing that just as Your Father helped You I will be helped through it all too.

Oh how I love that thought! It is so, so freeing.

Thank You.

Thank You Lord.
