Thought For Today

And so we keep on praying for you that our God will make you the kind of children He wants to have–will make you as good as you wish you could be!–rewarding your faith with His power. Then everyone will be praising the name of the Lord Jesus Christ because of the results they see in you; and your greatest glory will be that you belong to Him. The tender mercy of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ has made all this possible for you. 2 Thessalonians 1:11, 12

Lord when we read verses like this our hearts rejoice. You are OUR God. You will make us the kind of a child You want us to be….the person we are striving to be. Thank You for Your love that calls us on to become more and more like You.

God who called you to become His child, will do all this for you, (keep your spirit, soul and body strong and blameless) just as He promised. 1 Thessalonians 5:24

Thank You Lord that we can KNOW that You will ALWAYS keep Your promise. So often in our lives we have the best intentions when we make a promise but it seems often those promises are broken. How comforting it is to know that never happens with You. We know You will always do what You have promised to do. Oh what encouraging words these are Lord. We know You will always be there for us. Oh how we thank and praise You.

May the God of peace Himself make you entirely pure and devoted to God; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept strong and blameless until that day when our Lord Jesus Christ comes back again. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

Thank You Lord for being the God of peace. Oh how we need Your peace today. You remind us to keep on praying, keep on trusting and watch for Your answers. You also remind us to keep seeing the good all around and to be thankful for the things we have. Oh how blessed we are and we thank and praise You.

Always keep on praying. 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Thank You Lord for giving us the privilege of coming to You 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. There is never a time when You are not listening to us. There is never a time when You are not there for us. Prayer changes things…what a true statement. That is why we are told to ‘Keep on Praying.’

Often Lord all that changes when we ‘keep on praying’ is our attitude or our heart. Often that is how You help us through the difficult times in our life. You know us better than we know ourselves and know what is best for us. Oh how we thank and praise You for Your constant, comforting love.

Thank You Lord for showing us how to love. You first loved us and what a wonderful example You have been for us to follow. Oh yes, we wish we could be perfect like You were and are. As we grow in Your love our love for others grows too. Thank You for Your unconditional love that teaches us how we can love others unconditionally.

Thank You Lord that we can have the same relationship with others as Paul and Timothy had in the city of Phillipi. It is Your love Lord that calls us to love and serve others. Because we have experienced Your love and peace we want to share it with those we meet. Thank You for being with us on this wonderful weekend as we share Your love and peace with others.

Thank You for the freedom we are experiencing because there were those who fought or are fighting for it yet today. We thank You for each person that gave and is giving their lives to protect us. Bless them Lord and fill them with Your peace.

How wonderful that it is ours for the taking. Always there. Never removed from us. Available 24/7. What a beautiful gift and oh how we thank You.

As for me, (Paul) God forbid that I should boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross my interest in all the attractive things of the world was killed long ago, and the world’s interest in me is also long dead. Galatians 6:14

Thank You Lord for changing our desires when we give our lives over to You. Thank You for giving us a peace that passes all human understand. An amazing peace is ours in the midst of the storms of life. You are there with Your comfort and Your joy. Thank You for this beautiful day to love and serve You.

And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessings, if we don’t get discouraged and give up. That’s why whenever we can we should always be kind to everyone, and especially to our Christian brothers. Galatians 6:9, 10
