Jesus said to them, (disciples) “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of man shall sit on His glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” Matthew 19:28
Lord how we thank and praise You that nothing done for You is in vain.
These disciples left everything to follow You and they may have had a very difficult time on earth but their rewards were in heaven.
Thank You Lord that we know that heaven is our home too.
Thank You!
Thank You Lord.

Then Peter said in reply, “Lo, we have left everything and followed You (Jesus). What then shall we have?” Matthew 19:27
Lord, Peter shows his human side when he asked You what his reward would be for leaving all to follow You.
You had just told the disciples that nothing was impossible with God and now Peter was asking what his rewards would be.
The disciples did leave everything to follow You and as we watch their lives to the end we see that their earthly journey was very hard. Most we killed. Certainly they had no earthly reward. They struggled but stayed true to their belief in You.
Thank You Lord for going to prepare a place where we can spend all eternity with You.
Thank You….. Thank You Lord.

When the disciples heard this (how hard it was for a rich man to enter heaven) they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:25, 26
Lord I sure can identify with Peter and his comment…..‘Who then can be saved?’
Thank You Lord that we are not alone in the challenge to give our all to You.
Thank You for Your strength and wisdom in all we do or say.
Thank You for always being with us to guide us on Your pathway.
Oh how blessed we are Lord because You never leave or forsake us.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And Jesus said to the disciples, “Truly, I say to you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:23, 24
Lord You knew the motives and desires of the rich man that turned and walked away from You when You told him to sell all and come follow You. When You said that to him You knew he could not do it. Oh he had told You what all he had done but this was the one thing he could not do.
You ask for our all Lord. You ask us to give everything to You. You know what frail humans we are. We have a hard time …often a very hard time….giving You our all. Oh we want to because we know it is the right thing to do but our human side so often kicks in.
Thank You Lord for Your patience and understanding.
Thank You for seeing our heart and knowing all about us.
Thank You for Your help and as my father would tell me ‘sometimes God has to pull us through the knot hole.’
Thank You Lord for doing just that and bringing us through to victory. Oh how we need You.
Thank You! Thank You Lord.

The young man said to Him, (Jesus) “All these (commandments) I have observed; what do I lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come follow me.” When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:20 – 22
Lord this story tugs at all our hearts. It makes us evaluate our own desires and determination to put You first in our lives. Are we willing to give You our all. This young man wasn’t. He left sorrowfully. Often I wish we knew the rest of the story about how his life unfolded from that point on.
The ‘Good News’ is Lord that You didn’t leave him – he left You. You were still there waiting for his return….waiting for his change of heart. Waiting for him to see what was important in life.
Thank You Lord for waiting for us with open arms of unconditional love.
Oh how we love You Lord and thank You.
Thank You Lord.

He said to Him, (Jesus) “Which?” (of the 10 commandments) And Jesus said, “You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. Honor your father and mother, and, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 19:18, 19
Thank You Lord for knowing this man’s motives in asking the question.
Thank You for Your love for all of us and desire to have us draw closer to You.
Oh how blessed we are to have You guide and direct us.
Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And behold, one came up to Him, (Jesus) saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?” And He said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” Matthew 19:16, 17
Lord, everyone was always asking You questions. We will learn more of Your answers as we move on. I am sure glad that we don’t have to be good enough to have eternal life because all of us would fail. We all fall short….some shorter than others….but we all fall short. It is only because of Your love …Your unconditional love that we have eternal life.
Oh how we praise and thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Then children were brought to Him (Jesus) that He might lay His hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people; but Jesus said, “Let the children come to Me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And He laid His hands on them and went away. Matthew 19:13 – 15
Lord it must have been an exciting time to be with You and experience the healings that took place. Little children …… so innocent and unassuming were healed. You touched them and prayed and they were healed.
Thank You Lord for Your healing touch today.
We are blessed.
Thank You Lord.

The disciples said to Him, (Jesus) “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.” But He said the them, “Not all men can received this precept, but only those to whom it is given. For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it.” Matthew 19:10 – 12
Lord an important thing to remember in reading this passage is that the Pharisees were trying desperately to catch You in saying something that didn’t agree with the Jewish laws. This was their whole reason in asking the questions.
You knew their hearts. You knew how evil they were and what they were trying to do. You knew their whole intent was to discredit everything You were teaching.
Oh how I thank You Lord that You know our motives and desires. You know how much we love You and that we are doing our best to serve You. You are there to guide us when we ask.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.

They (Pharisees) said to Him, (Jesus) “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?” He said to them, “For your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another, commits adultery.” Matthew 19:7 – 9
Lord, marriage is a beautiful gift. It’s really too bad that there are some instances where it doesn’t work. Often very heartbreaking with the pain of it all never leaving.
I am so glad You are there Lord to pick up the shattered pieces and hold our hand. I am so glad You are a loving, forgiving God. I am so glad You call us to move on beyond because You have another beautiful plan for our lives.
Oh how we thank You Lord for always being there for us.
Thank You. Thank You Lord.
