So they (guards) took the money and did as they were directed; and this story has been spread among the Jews to this day. Matthew 28:15
Lord and this story continues to be told today. There are many that still do not believe. There are many that do not want to believe even when they know the truth. We often hear stories just like this and eventually the truth comes out. Your truth has come out too. There were those that knew the truth and told it like it happened.
Thank You Lord for truthful people.
Thank You for those that are honest and won’t take bribes in order to lie.
It is Your strength and power that help us remain honest and we thank You.
Thank You Lord.

And when they (chief priests) had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sum of money to the soldiers and said, “Tell people, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’ And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” Matthew 28:12 – 14
Lord it is so interesting to see how human nature has not changed after all these years. These very things go on today that went on when You were here on earth. Today there are those that would lie and deceive to get their own way.
Thank You Lord for those in my life that are honest and faithful.
I am truly blessed Lord and I thank You for each person.
Thank You Lord.

While they (the women) were going , behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. Matthew 28:11
Lord, these guards had seen everything that had taken place. They were eye witnesses. I would guess since it was their duty to guard Your tomb they were a bit afraid of what might happen to them when they told the chief priests. After all they were sent to guard the tomb to be sure You were not stolen by Your disciples. Now what could they say. Who would believe them that an angel came and opened the tomb and You were alive.
Thank You Lord that You live today.
Thank You for giving us Your peace and joy.
Oh how we love You Lord and thank You.
Thank You Lord.

Then Jesus said to them, (the women) “Do not be afraid; go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.” Matthew 28:10
Talk about being excited Lord these women must have been ecstatic. These women now knew that You were alive.
It is exciting for us to read about it today and I can image what it must have been like to have been there. Again I have to say ‘thank You’ for the account Matthew gives of what happened.
Thank You Lord for the Bible and the way You speak to us through it.
It is a wonderful gift to us today.
Thank You Lord.

And behold, Jesus met them (the women) and said, “Hail!.” And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. Matthew 28:9
Lord, what must have been going through these women’s minds when they heard You call to them. These women loved You and had been at the tomb grieving. What an emotional day for them. I can see why they would be holding Your feet and worshiping You.
Today we are blessed to worship You too Lord. Oh how blessed we are to know You and love You too. Thank You!
Thank You Lord.

So they (the women) departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples. Matthew 27:8
Lord I can feel the excitement as these women ran to tell Your disciples. Talk about excitement…..this was excitement at its max. They had great news to tell and they could not wait to tell it.
Thank You Lord that we can share this same good news today. We don’t have to get the story in bits and pieces today because we have it recorded for us beginning to end. Oh how fortunate we are for the written word and the pages that give us Your story. Thank You.
Thank You Lord.

But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He has risen, as He said, Come, see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead, and behold, He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see Him. Lo, I have told you.” Matthew 28:5 – 7
Wow Lord! What would it have been like to have been that angel? What would it have been like to have been the women? And how about the guards that had witnessed it all and we are told they ‘trembled and became like dead men?”
This was an amazing event. You were no longer in the tomb. You were alive and out of the grave.
Thank You Lord for Matthew’s account of Your life. As we live through these moments we can see what a spectacular time and event it was. Oh to have been there and seen it all. You came, You lived and You died …..all for us.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And for fear of him (the angel) the guards trembled and became like dead men. Matthew 28;4
Lord, what a day this must have been. An angel came from heaven and rolled back the stone that was over Your grave. This was after there was an earthquake. The guards were so frightened by all that was happening they became like dead men.
Lord what an amazing event for all those there at Your tomb.
Thank You Lord for giving Your all for us. What a sacrifice….what a gift…..
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow. Matthew 28:2, 3
Lord You were in the tomb and there was an earthquake – then an angel came down from heaven. That angel rolled back the stone and sat on it.
Wow! What must those there have thought. It certainly wasn’t the scene they usually experienced at a tomb.
Thank You Lord for Matthew’s account. We can relive History through his eyes.
Thank You for the joy of knowing You as our Lord and Savior. We are Your children and oh, so blessed.
Thank You Lord. Thank You.

Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulcher. Matthew 28:1
Lord we read of these two women often that were there at Your tomb. I would guess it was because they were grieving. Often in our grief we want to be near the grave site and that is where they were once again. Their love for You was very evident. It showed to all those that were there.
Thank You Lord for those that love us. Often we don’t realize how much we are loved until difficult times come in our lives.
Thank You that Your unconditional love is ALWAYS with us. Oh how we need that love and thank You.
Thank You Lord.
