Thought For Today

Have I not written for you thirty sayings of admonition and knowledge, to show you what is right and true, that you may give a true answer to those who sent you? Proverbs 21:20, 21

Lord….it is obvious that Solomon wants his son to grow up to be a man of integrity. He wanted him to be someone he could be proud of. He is teaching his son the things that we also need to learn.

Thank You Lord for the wisdom You gave Solomon. It is wonderful insight for all of us. Thank You.

Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge; for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips. That your trust may be in the Lord, I have made them known to you today, even to you. Proverbs 22:17 – 19

Lord we are bless when we listen and learn and follow You.

Solomon gives great advice to his son. It is for all of us too.

Thank You for all the promises that are ours when we trust You. Solomon knew it and I know it too. Thank You.

He who oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth, or give to the rich, will only come to want. Proverbs 22:16

Lord once again Solomon is trying to teach his son the right things to do. Over and over he has taught him to be kind and generous to the poor. What a wonderful virtue to have. We all can listen and learn.

Thank You for giving us the gift of giving and thank You for those that are so willing to give.

Folly is bound up in the heart of a child but the rod of discipline drives it far from him. Proverbs 22:15

Lord ….Solomon was the wisest man that ever lived and these are the words he was instilling in his son.

Thank You Lord for parents that discipline with love. What a difference it makes in a life when we as parents look to You for direction. Thank You for prayer.

Thank You for children that want to love and follow Your ways.

The mouth of a loose woman is a deep pit; he with whom the Lord is angry will fall into it. Proverbs 22:14

Lord yesterday was Mother’s Day. Interesting that this verse would be today.

I spent my day yesterday remembering my mom and the faith and trust she had in You. She found You as her Lord and Savior at the age of 28. I was 8 years old and experienced the change You made in her life. She trusted You. She knew You. She loved You. In fact she had a pin that said JESUS with rhinestones that she proudly wore. She loved each of us six children and trusted You with our lives.

Thank You Lord for women that love and trust You. I love You Lord and I trust You.

The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!” Proverbs 22:13

Lord it is amazing to see the lengths people will go to in order not to do something. This sluggard was making up a reason he couldn’t do anything. Of course everyone else was out and about doing but this was the excuse given.

Thank You Lord for giving me the desire to work and be productive.

Thank You for a job that I enjoy.

Thank You for those that work with me that are a delight.

Thank You for a wonderful boss.

Lord I could go on and on with these gifts You have given me. Thank You.

The eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge but he overthrows the words of the faithless. Proverbs 22:12

Thank You Lord that Your eyes are always on us that love You. Thank You for the knowledge that only You can give. We are Your children and You love us unconditionally. Oh how we thank You.

He who loves purity of heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king as his friend. Proverbs 22:11

Lord we would all enjoy a person like Solomon is describing. That kind of person has lots of friend.

Friendships are wonderful Lord. You chose 12 men to join You when You were here on earth.

Thank You for friends Lord. They are a true gift to be treasured.

Drive out a scoffer and strife will go out and quarreling and abuse will cease. Proverbs 21:10

Lord it is very hard to be with a scoffer. Some are always trying to pick an argument. Some are just full of nasty remarks. Nothing can make them happy. They certainly need our prayers for they need to find You as their Lord and helper.

Thank You for prayer Lord. We can come to You and You help us through those difficult times when it is hard to be with unpleasant people. You are there. You help and we thank You.

He who has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. Proverbs 21:9

Lord I want to thank You also as a person that received from the person that has a bountiful eye.

My family growing up was that family. We were always grateful for the gifts given and thanked You for providing them Yet today after all those years I remember those gifts and blessings. As a child it taught me a lot that I am still thankful for today.

Thank You for the blessing in both giving and receiving.
